Fairmont 5.0

Picked up another 82 four door fairmont here locally, only about 30 min from my house. Parked it for a while since i was finishing the twin turbo cop car, and the 240, figured i would leave this stock and running till i could go nuts with it and the others were done.

while the car was sitting i droped it off at a friends, RPM fabrication, and had a 6 point rollbar installed in it, a first out of all my fairmonts.

for fun my girlfriend and i dyno'd the car, stock, i did as much as i could to make power ended up with 80whp!

she then raced the car for me and got a 19.12 @ 71mph! haha

in the meantime i had a spare parts motor, one of my friends bent some rods in a 5.3 and swapped the motor and was tossing the shortblock

i took it home pulled the rods and pistons, bought ebay 06 rods and pistons, slammed it all together, tossed on some cyl heads, spare used head gaskets from another friend, tty head bolts from another friend, reused oil pump, timing chain, rockers, lifters, pushrods, all stock

i bought a turbo from Viren @ VS racing ahead of time, an 88/83 not many people were using it and it was the biggest one i could buy at the time cheap for fun.

so i contracted my friend tony tomake me a hotside, for said car.

in the meantime i decided, k member, coil overs, tubular a arms and then i could fit truck intake under the stock hood and save money there.

so i bought AJE K member, mounts, coils, a arms, etc, also picked up a 8.8 junkyard rear for cheap, and bought axles, and a disk brake kit for it.

brought the car in pulled it apart while reiners was building a turbo kit for me in south dakota

so while he was doing that it was time to gut the nose and swap it all in

pulled an explorer center section to finish off my rear build

starting to test fiting and installing everything

lots of things happened quick car is currently making 740whp @23psi and 9deg of timing, pumpgas and methanol injection

Build Specs

the body/chassis/ rear

1982 ford fairmont 4 door / 6 point cage by RPM fab / AJE k member, engine mounts, tube A's and coil over kit

Ford mustang stock 8.8 housing, 3.55 gears, moser 31 spline axles, explorer center diff, northern racecars rear disk brake kit, welded axle tubes, stock upper and lower control arms for now, stock springs and shocks.

02 mustang GT front hubs, brakes, rotors, aliminum twin piston PBR calipers, 93 cobra master cylinder. Billet specialties wheels front and back 15x10 back

Motor / trans / turbo / fuel

2001 5.3 block and crank, 06 rods and pistons off ebay (stock) stock oil pump, timing chain, pushrods, lifters, rockers, stock 862 heads still grimey from EGR and stock truck intake, stock throttle, nothing ported, also still grimey

re-used head gaskets from a friend, re used tty head bolts from another friend, trickflow 216/220 .560 114lsa camshaft from summit, pac1218 springs.

stock truck manifolds, turbo kit built by reiners, 1.90 ID piping, divided turbo kit, twin 44mm china wastegates, t4 flange, VS racing chinese 88/83 t4 turbo, vs racing 4 inch intercooler, 3 inch piping couplers and throttle body clamp from Squeeze performance.

80lb siemens deka injectors in stock return fuel rail, stock regulator, stock clip in feed and return lines from truck, 16gal fuel cell from a friend, feeding a holley 12-1800 fuel pump, 3/8ths fuel line to and from the stock intake.

fuel pump has twin pumps in it, running one all the time, 2nd one comes on with the methanol at 8psi or so. TH400 converter and dipstick purchased from a friend for 600, i really dont know anything about them but theyre working great, Ebay transmission cooler 110 dollars, in the back of the car.

EFI source, Ms3 Gold box for engine management, cooling mist trunk mount 1.5 gallon methanol kit. twin 5gph nozzles i think...
