Edgar Families

There is no such thing as an Edgar Clan per se, as far as I can see on the internet (as of Aug 2019). However, there are several Edgar families or groups.

Research about Edgar Clans will direct readers to the Maxwell Clan and they themselves will encourage Edgar families to "belong" to their Clan, as a Sept. However, there is an Edgar Tartan, should we wish to claim it!

In 1937 a Society of Edgar Families was formed in Melbourne Australia with international membership. It disappeared in or around 1941/42, during the height of WWII and was never reinstated. However, we have a copy of their Newsletters, which offer much historical information about the Edgar families, not all of whom are blood related. It makes for interesting reading...

The Edgar Tartan

This tartan is registered with The Scottish Register of Tartans and was registered on 17 September 2014. The registration notes go on to say "Designed by Carol Hunter and Tom Edgar using colours which reflect their connection with Scotland. They are happy to share this tartan with all those who bear the surname Edgar either in this current generation or are descended from an Edgar ancestor.
