David Hope [dob:1891]
David Hope, the fifth and last child to William Bryce Hope and Eliza Ann Robertson, was born 24 November 1891 at Bogalara, Victoria.
Seven months after his birth, Annie (his mother) died of pneumonia on 18 June 1892, aged 31 years, at Powers Creek, Victoria. David was brought up by his aunt and uncle, Euphemia and Thomas Laidlaw of "Prospect" near Dergholm.
Being a teacher was David's chosen career and he taught at many country schools, some of which were; Appen, Yarpturk a small town near Warrnambool and Ararat before retiring at Mernda. He married Elizabeth Cliff and died 2 April 1966 at Preston, Victoria. Elizabeth Lennetta Cliff, was the daughter of Joseph Henry Cliff, a station master, and Mary Jane Cliff, a dressmaker. Elizabeth was born 9 October 1894 and died 24 July 1970 at Preston.
They had 2 children, David Henry Keith Hope and Lennetta Mary Hope.
