Sizzling Sands

Once upon a time, I started to write about some of our adventures and experiences from our time in that Ancient of Lands we call Egypt, known locally as Misr (with a silent "i" and a rolled "r").

We were Christian expatriates who lived there from 2001 through to the end of 2006, returning 10 months later for another 2 months. It was certainly an interesting time, full of adventures, full of new experiences, full of the exotic that only living in the Middle East can offer. We learnt basic Arabic - to read, write and speak it - although my ability to read and write it far outweighed my ability to speak it well. However, that was balanced with Norm's ability to speak it better than he could read or write it, so we worked well as a team.

To be continued...
