Bessy May Denton 1920-1970

Bessy (Betty) May Denton, their third child, was born at Harrow, Victoria in October 1920 and spent most of her youth in and around the Harrow district. She was a Telephonist at the Harrow Telephone Exchange before leaving for Melbourne in the 1940's looking for another job. She eventually found a job in a factory where she met her future husband, Keith Hutchings, who worked as a mechanic. They married in 1946 and lived in Murrumbeena, a suburb of Melbourne, before purchasing their own home at Springvale. Betty would sit and knit for hours, making garments for friends and her family. They had one child.

Bessy died 6 October 1970, just one week after her 50th birthday.

Betty and her two older siblings worked at the Harrow Post Office until their 18th birthdays. Both the girls worked for the same family at Pigeon Ponds.

Regretably, I have no further information about the life and times of Betty Denton and her husband Keith Hutchings or their family..
